The evening concluded with plenty of congratulations and photos plus the announcement that the 2023 Awards Night & Dinner is already set for Wednesday, March 13th, 2024.Red Hawk Sports Network Students Nominated for Two National Media Awards The COACH OF THE YEAR award went to Cherokee County's Jacob Kelley. Piedmont QB Jack Hayes repeated as the PLAYER OF THE YEAR, equaling Jacksonville's Ron Wiggins as the only two-time recipient of the honor. Nominees for the awards were Jack Hayes, Jamarius Haynes, Antonio Ross and Kamron Sandlin for PLAYER OF THE YEAR while Matt Glover, Danny Horn, Jerry Hood and Jacob Kelley were up for COACH OF THE YEAR. The evening's ceremonies came to an end with the presentation of FNN's Coach and Player of the Year bronze "Football Man" trophy. Jacobs stated, "Hayes is an athlete that has put up record-setting numbers that most of us will likely not see again in our lifetime." That award went to Piedmont athlete Jack Hayes. The Laura Jacobs Inspirational Service Award was presented to former White Plains High School Band Director and current White Plains Middle School teacher Wendy Etter.įNN's new "The 24" 2022 All-Star Team members were next to be recognized as they were called to the stage individually to receive their custom award.įNN made the decision to present a LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT Award this year. 2022 recipients were Jamarius Haynes of Handley for the player and Jacob Kelley of Cherokee County for the coach. The next awards to be presented would be the FNN FAN VOTE for Coach and Player of the Year. Next up on the night, Grady Sapp came to the stage to host the first of four ONE ON ONE with the Coach and Player of the Year nominees, presented by Harrison Sports Chiropractic. The 2022 FNN TEAM OF THE YEAR honor went to the B B Comer Tigers, with head coach Adam Fossett receiving the custom trophy. Each nominee was presented with a custom plaque recognizing their nomination. The 2022 nominees were Anniston High School, B B Comer High School, Cherokee County High School, and Coosa Christian School. ![]() A fan vote combined with a panel of football coaches that didn't play any of the nominees over the season would determine the winner. FNN's TEAM OF THE YEAR would serve to recognize the team selected from four nominees offered by FNN. The night's first award would be a new recognition created for 2022.
